WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2026

Sponsored by Open Asset

Lunch opens at 11:00 AM

SmartWIN26 kicks off with the raw truth: the AEC industry is shifting under your feet. Judy Sparks sets the tone with a candid look at what’s changing, what’s outdated, and how principals and marketers who stop reacting and start leading the change will own the future. Expect no sugarcoating, just the clarity you need to make bold moves in 2026.

Judy Sparks

Founder and CEO, Smartegies

Judy Sparks is the Founder and CEO of Smartegies. With over 30 years of experience in B2B sales and marketing, she partners directly with AEC firm leaders to drive growth through smart branding, targeted strategy, and full-funnel marketing. Known for her candid, no-fluff approach, Judy has helped organizations across North America strengthen their position in competitive markets and win work that moves their business forward.

Before founding Smartegies in 2008, Judy served as Chief Marketing Officer for a global design-build firm, where she managed a $5M marketing budget and helped grow the company from $250M to more than $700M in five years. Today, she brings that same enterprise mindset to mid-sized firms ready to scale. She is also the creator of the Scalable 6™ Framework, a strategic model used to align branding, communications, digital, sales enablement, and ABM to deliver measurable business impact.

A frequent speaker and panelist, Judy has led sessions for national and regional chapters of AIA, ACEC, SMPS, and PSMJ, among others, sharing insights on marketing strategy, business development, and the evolving buyer landscape. She also teaches marketing at Georgia Tech, where she developed the most recent curriculum for the School of Building Construction and has taught within the School of Architecture.

Georgia Tech is shaping the next generation of AEC talent—and changing the way our industry thinks about building. From advanced technology in construction management to new approaches in design education, this session spotlights how tomorrow’s leaders are being trained today. If you want to know what your future recruits—and your future competitors—will look like, don’t miss it.

What got you here won’t get you there. These CEOs know it and they’re already rewriting the playbook. On one side, you’ve got industry powerhouses like Brasfield & Gorrie, H. J. Russell & Co., and NELSON Worldwide doubling down on innovation, automation, and culture. On the other, entrepreneurial firms like Walker Architects, Arkitex Studio and Motz Engineering are proving that agility, focus, and bold leadership can disrupt the status quo just as effectively. Together, they’ll share how different-sized firms are confronting the same reality: the next era of AEC leadership demands new strategies, new tools, and a willingness to lead change rather than react to it.

Rob Blalock

Rob Blalock currently serves as CEO of Brasfield & Gorrie, one of the nation’s largest privately held construction firms, which was founded in 1964. The company had 2024 revenues of $6.4 billion and ranks 23nd in the nation among Engineering News Record’s “Top 400 General Contractors” list. Brasfield & Gorrie is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in providing construction for the healthcare industry, according to Modern Healthcare magazine.

Rob’s construction career started hands-on in the field. While studying for a degree in building science at Auburn University, he spent summers working as a laborer for a construction company in his hometown, Chattanooga, Tennessee. At Brasfield & Gorrie, he has held almost every operations position within the 60-year-old company. In 1998, Rob joined Brasfield & Gorrie’s preconstruction team in Atlanta. He moved to Raleigh to take on project management roles before returning to Atlanta, where he managed many skyline-shaping projects. He accepted the role of Central Group President in 2019 and moved to Birmingham, where the company is headquartered. He became the company’s President in 2022.

Rob was a key architect of Brasfield & Gorrie’s current strategic plan, which charts long-term stability for the company and provides a future for later generations of builders.

Rob is a member of Mountain Brook Community Church, which he attends alongside his wife of 24 years and their four daughters. He enjoys golf and loves time spent with his family, whether it’s playing pickleball or traveling when he can get the whole family together.

This session breaks down what a truly connected marketing ecosystem looks like—where CRM, automation, and analytics work in sync to generate qualified leads instead of vanity metrics. You’ll walk away with practical strategies to align your stack and transform it from a cost center into a growth engine.
