Demand Generation: Independence Day for AEC Marketers

Hello, fellow sun-seekers,

As we shake off the sand from our flip-flops and brace for the spectacular symphony of the 4th of July fireworks, it’s hard not to catch the infectious spirit of independence in the air. Yes, there’s nothing quite like the grandeur of the Independence Day celebrations, especially when it’s spent beachside, surrounded by family and an almost illegal amount of grilled goodies.

Drawing a parallel from this, I noticed a similar spark of liberation flickering within the realm of AEC marketers. The role of these unsung heroes is undergoing a significant shift from just being sidekicks in the sales process to the torchbearers of demand generation.

For too long, AEC marketers have been seen as sales enablers, always in a supporting role, rarely in the driver’s seat. They’ve been much like the diligent lifeguards, always vigilant and ready to spring into action, yet often overlooked until their expertise is urgently needed.

However, times are changing, and I’m thrilled that AEC marketers are starting to step out from the shadow of sales enablement and into the sun-kissed shores of demand generation. And oh, what a refreshing change it is! They’re now charting the course of strategic campaigns, interpreting the hieroglyphics of data analytics, and crafting compelling brand stories that draw in customers, like the tantalizing smell of barbecue at a beach party.

This is their moment of gaining independence, much like our nation did all those years ago. It’s their chance to show they can enable sales AND generate demand and lead the way forward.
